Exporting Transactions from eToro

eToro provides an account statement in XLSX format containing the full transaction history. Note: the current eToro export format does not allow detection of open (unsold) positions — if you do not see anything in the Portfolio section, this is not an error but a limitation of the export.

1

Log in to your eToro account and go to the "Portfolio" section

2

Switch to the "History" view

3

Press the additional options button and select "Account Statement"

4

Set the widest possible date range and generate the statement

5

Download the file in .xls (.xlsx) format and upload it to the application

Prepare reports for all years back to when you started trading — the full history is necessary for correct FIFO settlement. Make sure dates in consecutive files do not overlap. We recommend exporting by individual calendar years.

The current eToro export does not support detection of open positions. The application operates in beta mode for eToro.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are CFD trades on eToro taxed in Poland?

CFD (Contract for Difference) profits are taxed at 19% and reported on PIT-38. The taxable event is the closing of the CFD position. Both profits and losses from CFDs are included in the capital gains calculation.

Are CopyTrading profits taxed differently?

No, CopyTrading positions are treated as regular trades for tax purposes. Each copied position is a separate transaction — when it closes, the profit or loss is calculated individually using the FIFO method.

How are eToro dividends taxed in Poland?

Dividends from foreign companies are reported in PIT-38 Section G. Per Art. 30a(9) + the applicable DTT, foreign WHT is credited only up to the treaty rate (US: 15%, DE: 15%, UK: 10%, IE: 0%) against the Polish 19% tax. Any broker over-withholding (e.g. US 30% without W-8BEN) must be reclaimed from the foreign authority — IRS Form 1040-NR for US.

Does eToro issue PIT-8C?

No, eToro is a foreign broker (Cyprus) and does not issue Polish PIT-8C forms. You are responsible for calculating and reporting your taxes using the account statement export from eToro.

How are cryptocurrency and currency trades on eToro taxed?

Cryptocurrency and forex trades on eToro are typically CFDs and are taxed at 19% on PIT-38. If you hold real crypto (not CFDs), the same 19% flat rate applies. All foreign-sourced income requires a PIT-ZG attachment.
